Welcome to the NCGLS Website

The Northamptonshire Classical Guitar and Lute Society (NCGLS) is a not-for-profit organisation for amateur, student and professional classical guitarists, lutenists and musicians of similar historical, acoustic stringed instruments as well as for the non-performing enthusiast. The society aims to promote these instruments within the county of Northamptonshire and provide its members with an opportunity to interact socially and musically in a friendly and supportive environment.

Members enjoy a host of benefits including an opportunity to perform in the NCGLS guitar ensemble, access to a range of workshops, a newsletter and much more. Members also have access to an extensive library of sheet music, music books, CDs and DVDs. The monthly members meetings are held every second Sunday of the month between 2pm and 4pm at the historic All Saints’ Church located on George’s Row in the heart of Northampton’s town centre. The meetings are an opportunity for members to interact both musically and socially in a friendly non-competitive environment.

Professional and qualified tutors who are members are entitled to an entry in our register of tutors (subject to terms and conditions). In addition, our register contains some useful advice for both tutors and students. The society also organises regular workshops (including ‘taster sessions’ run by some of our tutor members) and recitals in order to create, nurture and further and interest in the classical guitar, lute and other related classical musical instruments. Please check our events diary and come and meet us. New members are always welcome!
